Eleanor Mae Johnson

Eleanor Mae Johnson, known as "Ellie" to those who loved her, passed away peacefully on November 12, 2024, at the age of 82. Born in Birmingham, Alabama, Eleanor moved to Austin in 1968 and quickly made it her home. A devoted wife to Robert for 54 years, a mother of three, and grandmother to seven, Eleanor's love was her greatest gift. She spent 32 years teaching third grade at Bryker Woods Elementary, where she shaped the lives of hundreds of children. Eleanor had an infectious laugh, a passion for gardening, and a belief that a good meal could solve almost any problem. She will be deeply missed by all who had the privilege of knowing her. She is survived by her husband Robert Johnson, her children David (Sarah), Carol (Michael), and Thomas, and seven grandchildren who called her "Grammy Ellie." A celebration of life service will be held at Sunrise Memorial Chapel on November 20, 2024 at 2:00 PM.
